Reporting to the Senior Manager of Membership and Chapters, this position is responsible for assisting the membership department with strategy and ideas, processing new memberships and renewals, following up on lapsed memberships, direct membership assistance and customer service, helping to manage NGMA’s social communities, maintaining the membership database, supporting chapter meetings, and assists with other organizational administrative duties as needed. The Membership Associate also has the important responsibility of answering NGMA’s main phone line and general email address, forwarding calls and emails to appropriate staff for follow up, assisting with mail and payment processing, and creating invoices and forms. This person is expected to keep abreast of technology, knowledge, outside developments, and trends to maintain expertise in the membership field.
NGMA is a remote organization, based out of Sterling, VA. Applicants must live within 45 miles of Washington, DC and be able to work full-time from their home and regularly travel to meetings in the MD/VA/DC area.

Assist in developing membership and value strategies
Prepare key materials for onsite presence at NGMA Annual Grants Trainings, chapter meetings, corporate partner interactions and other organizational meetings and events
Provide high level member service and support for all NGMA members, potential members, meeting attendees and partners
Daily correspondence with a variety of stakeholders via email, telephone, internet and direct mail
Securely process membership applications, invoices and payments
Manage required document collection for NGMA chapters
Execute membership acquisition, win-back, retention, and renewal campaigns
Oversee and updates automated renewal and welcome campaigns
Work with the association database (MemberClicks) taking a lead role in processing transactions, executing data searches and reporting, and ensuring data integrity
Work with communications team members to maintain a vibrant and engaging website with accurate and timely departmental updates
Responsible for membership record maintenance and database updates
Responsible for documenting member communications regarding requests for change in member status
Maintain the integrity of the member database, ensures the accuracy of its content including timely updates and adjustments
Familiarity with and/or experience working for associations or firms that work with associations
Experience working with AMS (Association Database) or similar CRM database. MemberClicks experience preferred, but not required
Experience working with communications software
Experience with Microsoft Outlook, Word, Excel and PowerPoint
High level of writing skills
High level of customer service skills
Excellent communications and customer service skills
Able to manage a variety of concurrent and ongoing tasks and projects
Able to attend meetings in the DC area as requested, and able to staff NGMA's annual conference on-site for several days.
