Position Description: UCLA Student Affairs division is a network of more than 25 programs, services, and experiences that connect with the life of every student during his, her, or their collegiate career. The Director of Development, Student Affairs will work across a variety of disciplines and on varied and complex gifts including those that benefit underserved student populations, student leadership programs, club and recreational sports, and much more. The ability to raise funds that will build and expand new programs, services and initiatives within Student Affairs is crucial to the success of our students.
Under the direction of the Executive Director of Development for Scholarships and Student Support Initiatives, the Director of Development, Student Affairs will serve as a major gift officer and will establish long-range goals and objectives for development programs and activities that reflect the priorities in the area of Student Affairs. In collaboration with other members of the campus development team, this individual will determine market feasibility for fundraising priorities, provide advice and council to volunteers and donors, engage high-level volunteers to provide community linkage development programs and work with volunteers and donors to assist with specific solicitations and other programmatic elements as necessary. The Director will meet with faculty and leadership in priority areas and gain knowledge of interests and areas of expertise; serve as a staff resource to the areas of Student Affairs; and represent these areas and UCLA Development to the broader community. The Director will establish and maintain cooperative working relationships with appropriate individuals and offices in External Affairs and across campus; use available data to develop constituencies and identify prospects in relation to priorities; organize and conduct meetings of volunteers, donors and key stakeholders designed to identify new prospective donors for private support and to demonstrate programmatic growth; develop and maintain a core group of prospects for major giving; and maintain active awareness of individuals in the prospect pool at various stages of identification, cultivation, solicitation and stewardship. This individual will also work with the Executive Director on programmatic management and planning to include establishing an annual operating plan for major gift activity, develop an annual budget and review and revise program goals and objectives at appropriate intervals. In addition, The Director of Development, Student Affairs will oversee the Associate Director of Development, Student Affairs.
