The Marketing Senior Manager is responsible for developing strategies and creating promotional content, materials, and collateral for SAME products, programs, and events. The individual is expected to be a strategic thinker and work with leadership to ensure cohesive and forward-looking marketing campaigns that are consistent with the Society’s branding and mission. Additional key duties include management of event microsites; administration of social media platforms; and oversight of marketing analytics implementation. The position will have significant interaction with other departments within the National Office and be a forward-facing member of the staff to the membership. The Marketing Senior Manager supervises the Marketing Coordinator.
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
Work with Director of Communications & Marketing to create and sustain overall marketing strategies to promote SAME products and services, advance the organization’s strategic plan, and enhance the Society’s national reputation.
Create, coordinate, execute, and analyze marketing campaigns to achieve key participation, engagement, and revenue goals for events, membership, and other products and services.
Execute day-to-day marketing efforts, to include planning, drafting, and scheduling marketing emails, social media postings, videos, and print collateral.
Supervise Marketing Coordinator, who is responsible for helping execute daily content production duties (social media posting, email creation and scheduling, video projects).
Extensively employ marketing analytics to understand campaign results, refine efforts, and create post-analysis on performance.
Work with Events Team to develop marketing and promotional campaigns for SAME events.
Work with Membership Team to develop and execute a variety of member retention and recruitment campaigns.
Work with Education & Programs Team to promote educational webinars, scholarship programs, STEM activities, college chapters, leader development opportunities, volunteer leadership roles, and mentoring programs.
Work with Communications Team to ensure cross-functional support of marketing activities.
Support efforts to create and sustain marketing strategies for the SAME Foundation.
Work with Director of Communications & Marketing to manage marketing-related budgets and sales projections.
KEY JOB DUTIES
Create marketing materials such as promotional e-mails, advertising copy, social media postings, exhibits and displays, marketing kit text, event signage, and handouts/flyers to better market SAME products and services. Work with graphic designer on the design of materials and take ownership of these products through production and distribution.
Develop and manage marketing calendars for promoting events and programs/activities.
Develop and maintain a delivery schedule of marketing efforts (using Google Sheets or similar program) to include project requirements, due dates, audience(s), delivery method, and status.
Organize and maintain audience segmentation efforts; maintain various lists of all audiences.
Research, identify, and engage new audiences both inside SAME and externally (including members, partners, and stakeholders).
Stay current in emerging trends in social media, online advertising, and other digital marketing avenues to implement best practices and maintain the organization’s competitive edge.
Set up conversion tracking with Google Tag Manager and Google Analytics; maintain UTM Style Guide to ensure marketing decisions are data-based, optimized for success, and reportable.
Oversee and implement tactics of digital advertising campaigns, including remarketing, social media, and online display advertising.
Develop and manage pre- and post- surveys on event attendance, membership programs, and magazine readership through online survey services; track results and analyze data.
Oversee and manage event microsites including:
Work with microsite vendor (eShow) and maintain and update event microsites; ensure content is relevant and current and that sites are transitioned year-to-year.
Ensure conversion tracking is accurately set up for all eShow forms and other conversions on event websites (requires collaboration with SAME Registration Manager, Exhibits Manager, and eShow staff).
Continuously carry out quality assurance/quality control.
Create web landing pages in accordance with marketing campaigns.
Utilize SEO strategies to maximize the exposure of the event website.
Integrate additional SAME digital content (blog, podcast, video) as appropriate.
Supervise Marketing Coordinator, including but not limited to, managing work flow, allocating assignments, approving schedule, evaluating performance, and nurturing professional growth.
Develop and sustain vendor, consultant, freelancers, and other supplier relationships in support of overall marketing and communication goals.
EDUCATION & EXPERIENCE
Bachelor’s Degree in marketing, communications, public relations, or related field.
Minimum five to eight years of experience in marketing or related function
Experience with professional associations a plus.
Previous management experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES
Demonstrated experience developing and implementing marketing strategies.
Demonstrated experience using analytics to inform and improve marketing strategies.
Demonstrated experience using online marketing services and platforms (such as Critical Impact, MailChimp, and Survey Monkey)
Avid interest in growing professionally and taking on new and exciting challenges.
Excellent writing and editing skills for a variety of mediums (both print and digital).
Strong understanding of design and branding principles.
Strong understanding of project management principles.
Proficiency in Google Analytics, UTM codes, and Google Tag Manager.
Experience and knowledge of HTML and use of online content management systems.
Proficiency in Adobe (InDesign/Photoshop) and Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint).
Willingness to create and test new approaches for promoting products, and services.
Experience in leading and developing teams.
Self-starter who can work independently and be a team player in a collaborative environment.
Good listener who welcomes input from both internal and external sources.
Ability to travel several times per year is required
Ability to pick-up and carry 30 pounds.
