Professional association located in Bethesda, MD is seeking a Manager, Marketing. The National Association of School Psychologists (NASP) represents 24,000 members, has a staff of 30, and an annual budget of $8 million. NASP represents school psychology and supports school psychologists in their work to enhance the learning and mental health of all children and youth.
In collaboration with the Director, Membership and Marketing, the Marketing Manager will be responsible for developing, implementing, and evaluating an integrated marketing plan for the association’s annual convention, summer conferences, publications, certification, online learning, and other products and projects to meet revenue growth objectives. This is an exempt level position.
Develop and draft marketing plans, including budget requests, to ensure NASP’s services and products are promoted across appropriate platforms; implement plans and monitor results.
Identify key audiences and create marketing copy for email blasts, website, ads, newsletters, flyers, brochures, signage, etc. Layout content in email platform and web content management system.
Plan and coordinate with internal departments on marketing strategies to support the product or service and to enhance the member value proposition. Coordinate and collaborate with communications department on marketing messages for social media and weekly e-newsletters; contribute to development of social media plans and strategies for the upcoming year.
Collaborate with supervisor on strategies to enhance membership retention and recruitment.
Develop copy for the convention preliminary and final programs; communicate ad branding guidelines to sponsors and review ads for adherence.
Assist with managing and monitoring the NASP Career Center; develop targeted messages to school districts to promote employer postings.
Monitor online Communities inbox and respond to user problems.
Assist with incoming membership calls and provide backup coverage as needed (phone calls and email)
Manage membership mailing list rental requests
Other projects and duties as assigned by the supervisor, Executive Director or COO.
Essential Skills and Experience:
Minimum of a bachelor’s degree in communications, marketing or related field and 2-5 years of proven success in marketing, preferably in an association environment.
Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal.
Excellent organizational and project management skills.
Experience with web content management, e-mail marketing systems, social media marketing, and association management software. Specific experience with Informz, Higher Logic, iMIS, and Ingeniux a plus.
Strong attention to detail and the ability to multi-task.
Effectively work with staff, both individually and in a team environment.
Effectively work with volunteers at all levels (leadership, members, committees, etc.)
Knowledge of education and mental health issues is desirable.
Minimal travel required.
Key Internal Relationships: Director, Membership and Marketing and staff member in each of the relevant departments.
Key External Relationships: NASP members, Nationally Certified School Psychologists (NCSP) and conference/convention attendees
