The Development Officer will work with the Pearland campus and community to provide direction to University Advancement connecting academic needs with prospects that are in need of cultivating, ready to make a gift or provide financial support enabling the University of Houston-Clear Lake to achieve its mission and goals. Assists the Vice President of University Advancement in implementing a strategic fundraising plan per the fundraising priorities set by senior leadership. Build, sustain and manage a portfolio of donor prospects, including annual, major and planned gifts that are important to the success of the Pearland Campus. Works with faculty, staff and volunteers as needed and connect fundraising and cultivations opportunities in Pearland with UHCL leadership. Participate in University-wide development activities and perform other job-related duties as needed.
Identify, cultivate and solicit prospects; write proposals, works with academic leaders across the University.
Manage a portfolio of prospects with a giving capacity of $25,000 to $500,000.
Attend and participate in university development activities on and off campus as needed.
Serve as Advancement liaison and point of contact for the Pearland campus regarding fund raising opportunities across the campus and in academic programs. Serve in a key communicator role both at the campus and between donor opportunities and University Advancement resources.
1. Bachelor's degree.
2. Five years of experience in development, advancement and/or fundraising.
3. Experience with MS Office Suite.
4. Ability to work with a diverse donor base including the ability to create relationships and use initiative to engage donors and match their passions to current university objectives.
5. Ability to work independently as well as within a team. Must have a strong work ethic and excellent interpersonal skills.
6. Ability to prioritize work, meet deadlines and maintain confidentiality.
7. Clear, precise and effective oral and written communication skills with attention to detail.
8. Possess knowledge of fundraising, public relations and be able to communicate with high level executives.
9. Ability to maintain a professional demeanor and be a committed team player.
Master’s degree in Communications, Marketing, Psychology, Social Science or a related field. Demonstrated fundraising success in a higher education setting. Experience with Constituent Databases.
