Reporting directly to the Executive Director of Development and Alumnae/I Relations and working alongside a team of senior fundraising professionals responsible for identifying, engaging, cultivating, soliciting and stewarding major gift donors and prospects for Trinity, the Director will manage a portfolio of major gift prospects for Trinity, both individual and institutional prospects, as well as participate in developing fund raising strategies and prospect management for both annual and capital fund raising programs. Trinity expects all fund raising staff to be able to execute strategies and tactics for fund raising across a range of projects and gift levels.
Looking ahead to its 125th Anniversary Year, Trinity is planning a major capital campaign to support and strengthen scholarships, faculty, curricula and programs, facilities and technologies on this historic campus. Founded by the Sisters of Notre Dame de Namur in 1897 as one of the nation’s first Catholic women’s colleges, Trinity continues the women’s college today along with four professional schools, serving a remarkably diverse population of 2000 students in all programs and more than 14,000 graduates.
Candidates for the Director of Major Gifts must have a track record of significant, hands-on experience in personally cultivating and soliciting major gifts in a higher education setting, as well as direct experience in working with a diverse group of volunteers for alumni reunion giving campaigns, volunteer recruitment, engagement/special events, and campaign fundraising efforts. The successful candidate will be an enthusiastic self-starter with high energy, creativity, initiative, and excellent communications skills both orally and in writing.
The position requires at least five years of progressively responsible experience in fundraising with strong preference for higher education development/fundraising experience. The successful candidate must be able to travel and to work in the evenings and on weekends as needed. A bachelor’s degree is required.
