EPL is looking for a passionate, strategic and innovative Fund Development Manager to help build a sustainable tradition of annual giving and major gift support for EPL while completing the final touches on a $10 million capital campaign that will culminate in the revitalization of one of Edmonton’s best used and most loved buildings. The Fund Development Manager manages the constant renewal and implementation of a vibrant and forward-looking fund development plan that encompasses all components - annual giving, major gifts, special events and stewardship - and enhances donor development and donor relations.
The Fund Development Manager will lead the Development team at EPL which includes four staff and a team of volunteers. Key responsibilities include:
Creating, implementing and evaluating EPL's fund development plan.
Leading the final stages of EPL's Stanley A. Milner Library Revitalization project including donor stewardship.
Developing the budget, preparing gift expectancies and monitoring income forecasts in relation to fundraising objectives by working closely with the Accounting Manager to translate the annual development plan into a monitored budget.
Understanding EPL's mission and vision and developing a pipeline of prospective supporters whose interests align with ours.
Building personal relationships with current and potential donors.
Developing EPL's annual giving plan in conjunction with the Donor Engagement Specialist to encourage the hundreds of thousands of Edmontonians who use and love EPL to support us.
Formulating and implementing a donor stewardship and recognition program.
Developing and implementing cultivation and fundraising events to increase engagement opportunities with current and prospective donors.
Leading the fund development team including developing and monitoring the overall budget, providing regular reports for senior management and board review and mentoring junior staff.
Related degree with a minimum of seven years of progressive experience in fund development, business development or sales. Equivalencies will be considered.
Experience in annual giving, major gifts and planned giving campaigns.
Experience leading a capital campaign.
Ability to lead, coach and inspire a team of professionals and senior level volunteers.
Experience with securing large gifts ($100,000 or more).
Excellent project management, communication, presentation and relationship-building skills.
A strong donor-service orientation demonstrated by the ability to anticipate, understand and respond to the needs and expectations of donors.
Superior problem solving skills, a high level of organizational ability and ability to deal with multiple deadlines and demands.
Strong decision making skills demonstrated by strategies that move the organization forward, effective goal setting, action plans and evaluation of successes and failures.
Experience with fund development or Customer Relationship Management (CRM) software, including building queries and reports.
CFRE (Certified Fund Raising Executive) certification is an asset.
Experience within a public sector or non-profit fundraising environment is preferred.
Note: Candidates with lesser qualifications may be considered at a lower classification and salary level.
