Beyond The Orphanage Foundation, Inc. (hereinafter BTOF), seeks to engage a Fundraising Specialist on a part time, contractual basis to help BTOF plan and initiate a capital campaign. The ideal candidate will have demonstrable experience as a fundraiser and must have experience working with 501(c)(3) not-for-profit organizations. The fundraising specialist (hereinafter Contractor) will report directly to the Director of BTOF, and will also work with other BTOF Board members and BTOF’s Business Manager. These persons are located throughout the US.
Mission and Guiding Principles
The mission of BTOF is to improve the lives of at-risk orphaned, abandoned and trafficked children in developing countries by assisting local, in-country partner organizations to provide these children with a safe haven, and assuring that they have a home, education and medical care as they grow into self-reliant adults. By working with in-country partners that adhere to BTOF’s program model unique model of foster and kinship care, tailored to the individual needs of each child, BTOF also strives to establish model programs for government agencies and other NGOs to emulate. Term of Contract
The contract will begin as soon as practicable and extend for a period of 1 year. BTOF expects the Contractor to devote an average of 8 hours per week for 52 weeks, at a rate of $40/hour, with the total cost of the contract not to exceed $16,640.
The Contractor is expected to provide his or her own office equipment necessary to execute the campaign. BTOF assumes no obligation to purchase Contractors equipment, supplies, benefits or insurances. BTOF does not have an office and the Contractor is expected to work from their own premises.
Performance will be reviewed quarterly by the Director and Board of Directors at whose discretion the contract may be terminated or extended. The review will be based on progress of the Contractor’s work plan, and Return on Investment in the campaign. If the campaign is sufficiently successful, the contract may be extended at terms and for a duration to be negotiated.
Areas of Responsibility:
Become fully knowledgeable of BTOF’s program model and programs
Identify likely donor populations
Propose a realistic plan for a campaign to engage donors and solicit funds
Work with BTOF’s Business Manager to establish a seamless process for receiving and depositing funds from donors
Be available for personal communications with BTOF’s Director and Board Members
Execute the campaign in accordance with the plan
Manage the campaign
College education and two years of experience in fundraising
Experience planning and executing fundraising campaigns
Experienced in Microsoft Office, especially Excel
Personable, well-spoken and professional
Passionate about the work of BTOF
Additional Salary Information: The contract can be extended in regards to the weekly hours and length of contract depending on success of performance.
