The Samaritan Women (TSW), is a nationally recognized Christian organization providing restorative care to survivors of domestic sex trafficking and conducting research and training to build up the nation's response in victim services.
The Director of Development reports directly to the Executive Director and is responsible for planning, organizing, and directing TSW’s fundraising efforts including, major gifts, annual fund, planned giving, corporate giving, grant-writing, and development-related special events. The Director works closely with the Executive Director, Board of Directors, and Development Committee in all fundraising endeavors. This position requires a senior-level fundraising professional with the experience, skills, sophistication, and presence to create and implement a plan that increases revenue to support the strategic direction of the organization.
Collaborate with the Board of Directors and Executive Director to create a development plan that increases income to support the strategic direction of the organization
Set annual fundraising goals with the Executive Director, Board of Directors and Development Committee
Grow a major gifts program including identification, cultivation and solicitation of major donors
Develop strategies for existing major donors to effectively move them through a meaningful cycle of giving
Develop and track proposals for all corporate and foundation fundraising
Create a planned giving program
Create and execute a strategy for a large sustained base of annual individual donors
Coordinate development-related special events
Conduct prospect research as needed
Secure speaking engagements to share information about TSW with the community that may lead to new prospective donors
Staff the Development Committee meetings
Supervise Manager of Donor Relations and Development Associate
Oversee fundraising database and tracking systems, gift processing, donor acknowledgement, and development-related financial reporting
Foster a culture of philanthropy among the Board of Directors and staff
Oversee creation of publications to support fund raising activities
7-plus years in professional development position, required
Demonstrates servant leadership, embraces the mission of TSW, and exemplifies a collaborative, decisive, motivating, and engaging communication style, both verbal and written
Proven track record of fundraising success, particularly in securing major gifts
Demonstrated understanding and administration of planned giving
Skills to work with and motivate board members and development committee members
Strong public speaking skills
Action-oriented and adaptable, with a solution-oriented approach to challenges.
Relies on Biblical discernment and Scriptural support for leadership and problem solving
Telecommuting is allowed.
