Founded in 1986, The American Society of Ophthalmic Administrators (ASOA) empowers ophthalmic leaders to elevate the business of ophthalmology through education, innovation, support, and collaboration. Serving practice administrators, managers, physicians, and practice management staff, ASOA offers avenues for personal and professional growth and provides support, tools, and resources for the daily challenges of managing an ophthalmic practice. ASOA is a strategic partner of the American Society of Cataract and Refractive Surgery (ASCRS).
Under direction of the ASOA Executive Director, plans, executes, and achieves successful completion of assigned projects providing appropriate tracking and reporting per project.
Manages multiple ASOA committees/taskforces
Serves as project lead for the ASOAnalytics benchmarking initiative. Interfaces with 3rd party vendors in survey and report development, beta testing, QC. Manages marketing efforts (in-person and electronic) and is primary contact for subscribers and/or interested parties.
Writes regular news items and occasional articles for e-newsletters and magazines.
In conjunction with Executive Director, manages ASOA eLearning strategy, initiatives, and resources.
In conjunction with the ASOA Executive Director and ASCRS Marketing/Membership department develops and implements membership management and recruitment/retention campaigns, including solicitation of industry strategic business partners.
Works in conjunction with the ASOA Meeting and Program Manager in planning and executing the ASOA annual meeting and other small meetings as scheduled. (Domestic travel required).
Assists team members with project management and administrative duties as assigned.
Experience, Knowledge, and Skill Requirements:
Solid understanding of association membership, strategic planning, marketing, and project management.
Collaboration with cross functional teams to develop innovative solutions.
Ability to work on multiple projects simultaneously
Ability to think strategically, prioritize, adjust priorities as needed, and meet deadlines
Ability to interact tactfully, but in a goal driven manner, with large volunteer contingency
Strong organizational and problem-solving skills
Ability to read, interpret and logically apply information
Excellent written and oral communication skills, with attention to detail
Ability to work in a team environment, but also be a self-starter, demonstrate initiative, have excellent interpersonal skills and think outside the box
Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite, content management systems, HTML, and email software. Ability to quickly learn other software systems as required
Education and Training Requirements:
Bachelor’s degree required
4+ years in planning, managing, marketing, and delivery of successful programs and projects
Minimum 4 years’ Association experience in membership, marketing, Board relations, meeting planning and project management
