We seek an Experienced Director of Development, passionate about multi-cultural arts, and excited to create a new department and fundraising strategy for Flushing Town Hall.This is a new, senior leadership position, created thanks to funding from the Booth Ferris Foundation, that reports directly to the Executive and Artistic Director, and supervises a 4-day a week Grants Manager.
Create, oversee and implement a development plan to sustain current efforts and to develop new fundraising initiatives and strategies that will broaden/increase FTH’s fundraising capacity. Initially this will involve an assessment of current activity and setting targets for growth.
create and manage an annual development calendar for all development activities of the organization.
Create and lead individual giving strategies to connect existing and potential donors more closely to FTH, moving them along the continuum of engagement.
Research and identify prospects, with an emphasis on high-level donors, individual, corporate and small-business giving. Develop strategies for cultivating, stewarding, prioritizing and tracking donor prospects on an ongoing basis, ensuring that the appropriate systems and procedures are in place to support fundraising goals.
Send acknowledgements to donors
Along with Executive & Artistic Director, and Deputy Director, secure gifts by engaging Board of Directors’ development and stewardship efforts.
Work with the Executive & Artistic Director and the Board to recruit diverse prospects for FTH’s board.
Create briefings, as needed, on major prospects; create and execute individualized strategies towards giving, sponsorship, and/or cross-marketing opportunities.
Develop CSR packages for banks and cultivate potential bank sponsors.
Proofread, edit and prepare written materials to ensure consistent clarity and messaging.
Design and oversee compelling and impactful special events and donor cultivation opportunities/events.
Represent FTH in a professional capacity at FTH cultivation events, as well as numerous civic and community events.
Work with the Director of Marketing & Community Engagement to create and produce all fundraising collateral, presentations, and materials, including audience, membership development and cross-marketing campaigns.
Create and implement direct giving campaigns.
Supervise the Grants Manager in completing all required applications, reports, and acknowledgements; work with Deputy Director, who will continue to write some of the more complex grants as well as the government grants.
Minimum 5 years experience in the identification, qualification, cultivation, solicitation, stewardship and acknowledgment of major gifts, individual, corporate and small-business giving, with a strong track record of building, sustaining, and growing long-term relationships with donors.
Experience in budgeting and income planning around fundraising efforts

Flushing Town Hall (FTH) is a multi-disciplinary global arts center, presenting Music, Dance, Visual Arts, Puppetry, and Arts Education programs out of an 1862 historic landmark building, featuring a 308-seat theater and 2-room gallery. Our mission is “Global Arts for a Global Community,” and FTH serves all 5 boroughs of NYC and beyond, with audiences of predominantly immigrants and low and moderate income families and individuals. Flushing Town Hall was founded in 1979 as "Flushing Council on Culture and the Arts" (FCCA) to present diverse arts from all over the world, to contribute to the revitalization of Flushing, Queens, and to foster an intercultural exchange through the arts. In the 1990s FCCA acquired and renovated historic Flushing Town Hall (1862 Historic Landmark) on behalf of NYC, and operates the building as a thriving multi-disciplinary arts center, presenting music, dance, theater, visual arts, cross-cultural and education programs.
