AIChE is a professional society of more than 60,000 chemical engineers in 110 countries. Its members work in corporations, universities and government, using their knowledge of chemical processes to develop safe and useful products for the benefit of society. Through its varied programs, AIChE continues to be a focal point for information exchange on the frontiers of chemical engineering research in such areas as energy, sustainability, biological and environmental engineering, nanotechnology, and chemical plant safety and security.
Under the direction of the Chief of Development Officer, the Director of Development will secure and grow financial support for our organization. The Director of Development will focus on strategies for building and strengthening long term relationships with individual donors, and ensure donor funded programs are well orchestrated. While maintaining knowledge of donor interests, the Director of Development will ensure that philanthropic support aligns with the overall organizations strategic initiatives. He/she will be an active participant in fundraising events, development of peer to peer donor development plans, and lead our governance efforts to build a sustained growing donor community.
The successful individual will build lasting relationships with donors, and keep them informed on how their financial support is making the world a better place.
Manage annual, major, peer to peer and planned giving programs
Collaborate with board of trustees and executive leadership to secure and grow financial support from individuals and organizations
Develop and implement fundraising plans that align with the organizations overall strategic plan
Ensure the successful implementation of donor funded programs and measure outcomes through a systematic approach
Oversee foundation communications strategy with donors and trustees
Provide board with regular progress reports and develop effective strategies to ensure 100% Leadership Giving
Prepare donor gift proposals to secure major multi-year gifts
Collaborate with board to identify and build relationships with new donors; maintain relationships with existing donors
Manage fundraising and special events
Generate development materials such as grants and case statements
Manage staff responsible for implementation of gift processing and recognition
Bachelor's degree in business required, non-profit management preferred or relevant discipline
8-10 years of proven Fundraising expertise; business development experience a plus
Demonstrated track record of securing major multi-year gifts
Proficient with individual and/or corporate solicitations
Exceptional project management and time management skills; strong attention to details
Must be able to manage multiple priorities with competing deadlines
Excellent written and communication skills
Must possess excellent organizational and planning skills; proficient in creating executive level presentations
Must be proficient in the use of MS Office products and social media platforms
Demonstrated experience working successfully within a highly collaborative and collegial organization
Excellent understanding of best practices
