We have been retained by a private single-family-office who is seeking a Client Service Officer for their office in Seattle, WA. Our client will offer relocation benefits to the right candidate.
The Client Service Officer (CSO) is a senior-level leadership role for this single-family-office and carries responsibility for building and maintaining strong relationships with multiple generations of family members. This family office does not have a hierarchical structure. So the CSO has the primary role of directly serving the family members on financial related matters including oversight of tax and managing financial and accounting process.
The CSO will be responsible for hands-on work and coordination with internal personnel and external professionals for execution of: investment decisions, financial services, accounting, income, gift and estate tax planning and compliance, risk management and insurance coverage, and other project-specific matters. The CSO is also responsible for understanding family member individual objectives and challenges in their various capacities and helping achieve their objectives. Therefore, it is imperative that candidates have strong communication and relationship management skills.
A CPA with prior accounting and tax planning and compliance experience within a family-owned business, or a family office, or worked with private clients in public accounting will be a strong fit for this positon. The ideal candidate will have knowledge/experience with income tax planning and compliance for UHNW individuals, closely-held businesses and pass-through entities. Candidates must be comfortable preparing tax work papers and reviewing the final return. He or she should possess general knowledge of estate/gift planning, estate reduction/wealth transfer strategies and charitable planning strategies.
The successful candidate will need to be highly organized and adept at handling multi-faceted, shifting job requirements that include basic and highly complicated tasks. He or she must be comfortable operating at both a strategic and “roll up your sleeves” levels and have the following work experiences:
Prior experience building complex models to project impact of current or proposed tax legislation, estimating for quarterly payments and other analytical projects.
Experience preparing general cash flow projection taking into consideration the client’s balance sheet, sources of income and personal preferences/values.
Comfortable looking at and maintaining the client’s records (e.g. QuickBooks, Quicken, Excel workbook).
Working knowledge/experience discussing investment portfolio and assessing property and casualty, life and liability coverage with UHNW clients.

Minimum 7 years of experience within family office, family owned business, public accounting, or other relevant experience working with UHNW clients.
CPA, and Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field highly preferred
Comfortable and effective in a highly collaborative, collegial culture
Experience working on QuickBooks, Quicken and Microsoft Office; able to problem solve
